Amanda Rose

Psychologist BSc(Psych) GradDipPsych

My area of professional practice is providing expert information and support through the provision of education, training, coping strategies and supportive counselling to assist adults to understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. By helping my clients gain a greater understanding of themselves through educating them about their health and experiences, I assist them to live a valued and meaningful life; achieve their goals, become empowered and, where possible, lessen and protect against mental health issues.

My therapeutic interventions are eclectic; with a focus on Short Term Solution Focussed, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy within a Motivational Interviewing Framework. I also use Interpersonal, Psychodynamic and Dialectical Behaviour Therapies as an adjunct to evidence based practice. I am skilled in applying concepts such as mindfulness, psycho-education, skills training and relaxation techniques to educate, support and empower clients. I have delivered workshops and presentations on topics such as vocational rehabilitation, goal setting, mental health, suicide prevention, assertive communication, stress and time management, self-care and boundaries. My clients come from a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds; and are all treated with respect, sensitivity, and without judgement.

When not working or spending time with her family Amanda can be found on the tennis court, walking in nature, scuba diving or going out for dinner with her friends.
